N173PA, has been fitted with an Airborne Biomedical Containment System (ABCS), funded by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It has been used for transporting of patients suffering from the deadly Ebola outbreak in West Africa in 2014. This is the only aircraft in the world capable of safely transporting patients of highly communicable diseases that offers a high degree of protection to the aircraft's crew and the accompanying medical staff. This aircraft is currently under an On 'demand' US$5 million contract to the US State Department. As the virus spread, officials from the World Health Organization, U.N. and Britain, among others, all approached Phoenix Air to sign exclusive deals.

Most annoying. For some reason a tracker has decided to be lazy and stop being specific about business jets just showing the ICAO designation. I understand there's a lot of them and it's a pain to maintain, but isn't that like their job as in what they are being paid for ? The result is that some really notable flights slip by unless you switch to the other tracker -- don't forget to put on your sunglasses ! -- for every anonymized business jet you suspect of being of interest to check its details. Most vexing !Interesting flights like this Phoenix Air slip by. This is a very special, unique even aircraft indeed ! (See Aircraft note)
