What is interesting is that it cut the corner flying over Syria up North. I do not know whether it actually cut the corner, the point is many commercial carriers have started doing just that ever since the Americans started broadcasting their renewed presence in that area with several highly publicized "show of presence" and "show of force" actions like low passes by F-15s, interceptions and the like.

It looks like the US is showing the other forces active in Syria they're in a box. Moving the activities of the K35Rs -- and their 'clients' -- active in Iraq towards the Syrian border would appear to serve the same purpose.
